Hardwood Flooring in Wisconsin

why hardwood flooring is best

Hardwood Flooring in Wisconsin:
We service all of Southern Wisconsin within 50 miles of Madison, WI, to LaCrosse, and as far north as Wisconsin Dells, Lake Delton and west to Baraboo.

Hardwood flooring will definitely add resale value to your home. With regular maintenance you can keep it looking beautiful for the life of your home. Hardwood never needs to be replaced like carpeting or vinyl.

Some advantages to hardwood flooring are that it’s much more eco-friendly than carpeting that’s for sure. See our carpeting vs hardwood comparison page. Hardwood flooring never needs to be replaced unless it suffers severe water damage, carpeting, on the other hand,  needs to be replaced approximately every 7-10 years because it just doesn’t hold up as well as any other type of flooring. So while tile and hardwood may be a little more expensive to install than carpeting initially, over the average homeowners life, they are much more cost effective and less of a maintenance burden.

Wisconsin Floor Crafters installs, sands and finishes all types of hardwood flooring, using the most popular and durable floor finishes; such as the Glitsa Swedish Finish that is the most durable on the market. See our flooring samples page to give you an idea of what type of wood you may want installed.

As far as hardwood flooring finishes, you cannot beat the Glitsa Swedish finish for durability. We have seen some Glitsa floors last as long as 12-15 years before needing a re-coat if properly maintained.

We also apply polyurethane, which lasts on average about 5-7 years before it may need a re-coat., and a commercial grade water base finish – which is considered to be a bit more environmentally friendly floor finish but it’s durability is not that good. Water base floor finish lasts, on average, only about 2-3 years before needing a re-coat.

Floor Crafters warranties our floors against structural defects for up to 30 days. Structural defects would be materials defects or installation defects only: such as boards coming loose. Warranty depends on what we find when we inspect the reason for the defect. For example, if the defect is being caused by your sub flooring or the structure of your house, there is nothing we can do about that, but Floor Crafters stands behind our work, and if the defect is something we caused, we will fix it free of charge for up to 30 days.

Types of Hardwood Flooring Advantages and Disadvantages.

Hardwood floors are relatively expensive, so you want to make sure you get something you will be happy with for a very long time. You can go natural with your flooring finish or add a stain, just remember, fads come and go, but hardwood flooring is forever, so get something you can live with for as long as you own the home – which on average, a person owns a home for about 5-7 years before relocating. Remodeling instead of purchasing a home is increasingly popular, so that statistic is changing rapidly.
